Get Away

When our kids turn 10 we take them on a short get-away... so last night/this morning Anne and I got to go have some girl time! With such a bulky camera it was a little tricky getting pictures!

In our hotel room! Earlier we walked around the mall, got Anne's hair curled at a booth and the girl didn't even pressure us to buy anything! Then we got back, ate dinner, watched Sense and Sensibility and did our toenails! The sores on my nose and cheek are just from getting a couple "AK's" removed- wear spf, people!
Next morning we ate breakfast at IHOP and did some shopping! Happy memories! Love ya, my girl!

Happy Birthday, Elijah!

Anne made Elijah a silly card with the guys nose being a pop-up- it was a hit! :)
And I just love this smile on his face. :)

Captain Crunch! My deprived children are thrilled to get cereal for their birthdays...

Anne also made him a sword! Christian set up a workbench in the shed, so all the kids have really been enjoying using a drill and a saw and now squares, screwdrivers, and hammers!

Peter made Elijah a wooden robot- pretty cool!

He's not really shirking the fun of blowing out candles- this stance is just one of his current tics.

We did ice cream cones instead of a birthday cake this year- boy was that great! And we only had one option for ice cream flavor! And I didn't hear a single complaint--even better.

And Corin's Two! And wondering why on earth would he want to blow the candles out!

In other news, after a really hard week after losing Charlie and this week losing a very good friend of Christian's, we needed some cheering up. So we got this little guy. We don't have a name picked out for him yet, but he's doing really well, even already eating off of our fingers. Just too cute.

Sad Day

Charlie Snuggle Stubs died. He was hit by a car and his hungry face didn't make it to the back glass door for his early morning beg for milk. This is so much harder than when Cory went missing. When a cat goes missing there's still the hope that somehow he ended up in someone else's life. When your daughter finds the cat by the side of the road, that's just the end. I know he was just a cat and a lot of people don't like cats. But man, this is hard. We could always count on Charlie to bring a smile. So, we'll miss him and remember him and probably spoil Moses as we do.
