Here are a couple of Anne's recent drawings (today), followed by a story Peter wrote a couple weeks ago for Uncle Tim... Enjoy!
To my knowledge, the only football Anne has ever watched besides Peter and friends is Facing the Giants. I thought this was really good perspective and especially liked the feet flung back. :)
Self-portrait, with a "rose headband". I really did just cut her bangs, though- they're not in her eyes anymore!
Uncle Bob and the Dinosaurs
by Peter Young
In the mists of gray I have a story I will say about a guy named Uncle Bob who loved dinosaurs. But before we roast our smores, we must say that there were not any stores for Uncle Bob to feed the dinosaurs. He loved dinosaurs so much he decided to have a pet dinosaur. And he also loved this poem:
If I had a brontosaurus
I would name him Morris.
But one day if he had a lot of brontosaurus
I would change his name to Lorris.
Anyway, can I get on with my story? So Uncle Bob had two partners. Tom and Benjamin. They were pretty good pals, but the one thing that Uncle Bob did not like about them was that they liked to hunt dinosaurs. So he made a plan to save the dinosaurs. He asked his partners, “Why do you always have to hunt dinosaurs?” “Because it’s fun and we like the meat!” replied his partners. And he told his partners his plan, and he also said to them, “maybe we can hunt moose or deer?” “That sounds like an excellent plan,” replied Tom. “So how can we save the dinosaurs?” asked Benjamin. “We can hunt some moose and deer and feed it to them,” said Uncle Bob. So they went hunting, got some deer and then they set it down by a rock and waited for the dinosaurs to come. They didn’t come until night, while nobody was there. They said to each other, “Why can’t we help the cave men?” “Why not?” replied all the dinosaurs. So they did the same thing to the cave men.
Back in the cave one of the cave men said, “Let’s go see if the dinosaurs got the meat we gave them.” So they went to the very same rock that they had placed it and it was gone! But what to their wondering eyes would appear but another piece of meat with dinosaur marks on it! But the real wonder is, how did the dinosaurs write on that tag? It was more sloppy, but the cave men understood it! The tag said, “Thank you for the meat. We will try to get along with you if you get along with us. Maybe we can meet each other sometime. Your friends, the dinosaurs.” “Wow!” said the cave men. “Unbelievable!” said Tom. “Maybe tomorrow we can meet them,” said Uncle Bob.
Back with the dinosaurs they were wondering when the cave men would come. “Maybe we can come over to their cave tomorrow!” said one. And the other dinosaurs agreed. And that’s what they did. And so did the cave men. And they met each other on the way! They greeted each other and learned each one’s language and then they could talk clearly to each one of them. And they all stayed that way ever since the dinosaurs died out. Maybe there are still some dinosaurs in Africa! Most likely not. Maybe I can teach you guys a song that the cave men and the dinosaurs made:
1st Chorus:
With a great big thud
Through the mud
It was a dinosaur.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The dinosaur is comin’.
There is a man named Uncle Bob
And he liked to slob
On his bed post.
He wasn’t very polite,
But he did
Like the dinosaur.
2nd Chorus:
Yay! Yay! Yay!
At the bay
They had a party
For Marty
The dinosaur.
Repeat 1st Chorus
Stores and smores
The dinosaurs did like.
So did the cave men.
The dinosaurs liked the cave men.
The cave men fed the dinosaurs
Some smores.
Repeat 2nd Chorus
The End.
For Uncle Tim
