Fair Week: Friday

Oh, my aching head. I won't go into it, but I'll just say if you ever want to do poultry with 4-H, talk to me first.

Anyway. Today Peter showed his blue silkie and then his meat chickens. Tomorrow's the auction, then we're done! :)

 Ready to go at 12:00!

 Finally up to show at 4:30 (waiting since 1:00)

 You have to hold your bird in all sorts of undignified positions when showing (see the girl next to Peter; the guy in the stripes in the judge)

 Done with a blue ribbon (though all novice showers got blue...)

 And the fryer pen judging at 6:00!

Though Peter placed last here because his chickens weren't close enough in weight, they were definitely the most active! Probably due to free-ranging- they didn't want to sit still like the others! My guess is they're a lot healthier. Anyway. Time to sleep up for tomorrow!

Fair Week: Wednesday

Today we turned in everything else...

 Miss Hattie, the partridge cochin...

 Aunt Gertrude, the blue silkie, who is possible "Uncle" Gertrude...

 And three of these cornish rock meat birds to auction on Saturday!

 Anne's three cucumbers...

 ...and black mountain watermelon.

Last, but not least, Peter's green cayenne peppers!

Today we drop off Anne's artwork at the fair!

Afternoon at Lake Mary... 

I can't believe we've lived in Flagstaff over 12 years and we've never actually played in the water. It's a whole lot cheaper and quieter than the Aquaplex!

 Isaac's never been or desired to be in "natural" water before...

 Elijah wore the itty bitty life jacket for awhile

 Peter's wishing he's in Hawaii where he might actually see more than just brown!

 And he's IN!!!

 Damp tiny pebbles for sand still do the trick!

 Remarkable progress for one day! Yay Isaac!

 Hundreds of miles from any real beach, we'll take the wake from passing boats! :)
