Bible Curriculum

Ok, so I am SO very happy with this Bible curriculum that I've been doing with my kids for the last 18 weeks or so, I think everyone with kids should be using it. Actually, let me amend that statement- I think everyone, regardless of familial status, could benefit from this. It's only $15 for the whole year, if you buy it as an e-book (I print mine out myself and put it in a binder). I personally have finally been memorizing Scripture as I'm helping the kids. We've learned the whole passage of the 10 commandments in Exodus 20 and we've just finished learning Psalm 1. We've read Genesis through Judges (major portions, not all the way- though when they're older they go through all of it). Tomorrow we start Ruth. There are three years worth of material she sells- Foundations 1, 2 and 3. 1 focuses on the Old Testament; 2 focuses on the Gospels and Acts; and 3 focuses on the Epistles and Revelation. If you start the program in 1st grade, the kids will get to go through the whole Bible 4 times- how awesome of a foundation is that for kids leaving home?! It's also very "tweak-able" to use as best fits you and your family. Anyway, there's my little hobby horse- I hope you check it out! :)

My newest little nephew was born yesterday morning! Little Judah Paton is quite a cutie and I'm really looking forward to watching him grow and develop his little personality in the upcoming months. The first few months of a person's life are filled with SO much change, it's just so amazing. It's also kind of amazing that it was snowing yesterday. Summer, o Summer, where art thou?!

 Our peeps aren't quite so cute and fluffy at just over 3 weeks old, and they've moved out to the "barn"- hopefully we'll get everything finished for them in the next couple of weeks! I'm pretty sure that at least a couple of them are cockerels, even though they're supposed to all be pullets. I guess we'll find out in the next few weeks!

 

I tried making strawberry jam for the first time since a failed attempt when I was 10 or 11. I didn't have any pectin, so I threw in some apple and it seems to be a fine consistency for me- not too syrupy, but not too gelatin-y.

 I think the rest of the family thinks it's ok, too. 

I'll hopefully have some funner (more fun?) pictures in the next few days!
